About me & my family !

Part 1 - The diagnosis
Hey everyone,
My name is Belle. I am 53 & a survivor of breast cancer.  I consider myself so lucky 🍀.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 45 years of age.  My cancer was the size of a grain of rice. Imagine 🤔 a rice grain. Take a moment to think about that !  So tiny ….. It was in the base of my breast (lobular breast cancer).  My cancer was aggressive and fast growing, by the time I had surgery it had more than doubled in size which was around 3 weeks.

I had originally booked my mammogram and ultra sound for Oct 2013 but had to cancel and time got away I had honestly forgotten to rebook, 4 months had passed and I made another appointment for Feb 2014. I always wondered would the cancer have been there in Oct ? If it was, would it have been too small to detect ?  Also one year would have passed before my next mammogram WOW ! Would it have been much larger?  This is why I am so grateful & feel so lucky 🍀 I had so many questions as we all do.

Leading up to surgery from the diagnosis there was a stream of tests and specialist dr’s appointments.  This can be expensive & lots of time out of work to prepare for surgery.

I was so thankful to have my amazing supportive family by my side every step of the way. That Monday afternoon I received the news from my beautiful Dr Thompson I had breast cancer,  one of the hardest things I had to do was tell my husband, daughter & son.  We cried 😥, we laughed 😀 but to be honest,  I think it was harder for them than me.  I had a vision of how I was going to handle this journey and I needed to keep a very positive mind every step of the way, the scariest part was the unknown  ……….

This is why the fundraising to support the research is crucial 🙏

We are contributing to save lives, one tasty course at a time!

This October, we are taking on the 3 Course Challenge to raise funds for breast cancer trials research. Our aim is to contribute to protecting the 1 in 7 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. The journey is different for every breast cancer patient 🥰.

By donating to my page, you’ll help fund clinical trials that are finding new ways to treat, prevent and ultimately cure breast cancer 🙌🏻. Your tax-deductible donation would be so appreciated and help make a real difference.

We can’t wait to give it a go, have some fun & cook with top chef Sarah Todd . This is all about helping find a cure for breast cancer 🙏.

I am so grateful to be a breast cancer survivor and to be able to give back to a research program I am so passionate about.
