Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 3 Course Challenge?

The 3 Course Challenge is an initiative of Breast Cancer Trials to raise funding for clinical trials research into the treatment, prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Your challenge is to cook a three-course French meal, with the aid of celebrity chef Manu Feildel.

Who can register?

Everyone is welcome to enter, however if you are under 18 years of age you will need permission from your parent or guardian. Only the host of the dinner party needs to register, guests can donate via the hosts fundraising page and do not need to register individually.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost to register in the 3 Course Challenge. To unlock the livestreamed, interactive cooking class with Manu Feildel at 1pm-3pm AEST on 29 August, and get the menu, recipes and ingredients list, you need to raise a minimum of $150.

How might social distancing guidelines, and public and social gathering rules affect my dinner party?

We strongly request that your dinner party adheres to social distancing guidelines, and the public and social gathering rules in your local area, State or Territory.  We are all responsible in the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 and you should not invite guests to your home for a dinner party if it is unsafe to do so.

Your dinner party could be held for your friends and/or family (if it’s safe to do so), your household, immediate family, or just for yourself. You could even hold it virtually by inviting your friends to register themselves for the 3 Course Challenge too, and you can eat together connected over a meeting platform like Zoom.

How do I raise funds?

Setting a fundraising target can give you a goal to communicate with your guests and friends.

Choose a target on your online fundraising page. Share the impact of your fundraising by letting your friends know how their support will fund clinical trials research that can save lives.

Ask your dinner guests to support you by donating what they might usually spend on a dinner night out. Let your wider friends and family know that you’re taking on this challenge and ask them to support you too.

There are fundraising tips and resources on your online fundraising page to help you start your fundraising journey. These include an email template and a social post to share via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

If you have questions about how to boost your fundraising, please call us on 1800 423 444 or email enquiries@3coursechallenge.com.au.

Where do the funds I raise go?

Funds raised by the 3 Course Challenge will support Breast Cancer Trials, the only independent, collaborative research organisation in Australia and New Zealand committee to clinical trials in breast cancer.

Every significant advance in breast cancer treatments and prevention has been achieved through clinical trials research.  A clinical trial is the critical step for final evaluation and regulatory approval before a treatment or prevention can be made widely available to those in need.

Breast cancer is not the same in every person. That’s why our clinical trials research focuses on identifying prevention strategies and treatments tailored to each person, their type and stage of breast cancer, and their individual patient needs.  We adopt a whole person approach seeking to reduce the side effects of treatment, and improve quality of life and the emotional wellbeing of people affected by breast cancer.

How can I learn more about Breast Cancer Trials?

Breast Cancer Trials is a unique collaboration of over 800 researchers, people who participate in our trials and our generous supporters, working together to save and improve the lives of every person affected by breast cancer. You can learn more here.

I've shared my page on Facebook asking for donation using the Facebook Donate button. Will the funds I raise come to Breast Cancer Trials?

Yes, they will, however, we currently advise that you don’t use the Facebook Donate button to raise funds as we can’t link any donations back to your fundraising page.

If you’ve already set up a post, we ask that you:

  • Delete the post, as this is the only way to remove the Facebook Donate button.
  • Create a new Facebook post and share the link to your fundraising page without adding the ‘Donate’
    button.

Why aren't the donations that I'm receiving through Facebook showing up on my fundraising page?

Facebook donations are handled and held by a third party, so we can’t sync these donations with the 3 Course Challenge campaign due to limitations with the Facebook Donate button functionality. Given these limitations, we advise you not to use the Facebook Donate button to raise funds.

If you’d like your friends and family to donate to you, we encourage you to share the link to your fundraising page instead.

Who do I contact if I have any questions?

We’d love to hear from you if you need any help or have questions. Call 1800 423 444 in business hours, or email us at enquiries@3coursechallenge.com.au.

How do I deposit any cash donations made at my dinner party?

The best way to bank any offline fundraising money is through your online fundraising page with your credit card. Your total fundraising amount will then be shown on your page.
